Blog Overview

by Mike Rogers

This blog seeks to encourage Christians to embrace the kingdom of God and its King, Jesus Christ, as the central elements of their message to the modern world. It does so through discussions related to the interpretation of prophetic passages throughout the Bible. These discussions contribute to the incremental development of an improved prophetic framework.

This model will better equip the saints for apologetics as they explain and defend their faith. It will encourage them in their mission to evangelize the nations. This blog and model of prophecy will seek to enrich the routine elements of daily life by placing them in a kingdom context.

Finally, the model will attempt to resolve interpretive issues that tend to puzzle Bible students. We will develop the prophetic model in our “Prophecy” category. Please consider reading these in chronological order to follow the development process. Reading later blog posts without the benefit of background information provided earlier may lessen the effectiveness of this structured approach to understanding God’s prophetic word.

As always, follow the lead of our Berean brothers and sisters: “They received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11).

If you are interested in Biblical prophecy, please subscribe to this blog. It is free and you can unsubscribe at any time. We will send you one email per week containing the latest post. Your subscription will encourage us to continue this work!

As of June 12, 2019, Bible references without a specified version will default to the New King James Version. This change will affect posts published prior to this date. We had previously defaulted to the King James Version. So, some quotations in posts before this date will not match the verse(es) in the “pop up” pane.

Dear brother Mike,

It is a good idea to write the teachings you have done in India. It is an important subject every one should know. Looking forward very much to receive your articles every week.

Thank you, Brother Guna. I have fond memories of the time I spent visiting the saints in India with Elder Jeff Harris. I look forward to your feedback regarding the posts.

Brother Mike,

I enjoyed your articles and have not found any serious disagreements. I have not heard the term “inmilenialism” before and wonder if you are it’s originator.

I came to many of the same conclusions in the late 80’s and early 90’s. However my journey actually began in the mid 1960’s. Study of Scriptures demanded I scrap what I was taught by men (good and honorable men) and begin empty. It was indeed a long lonesome journey. Questioning, let alone rejecting all forms of millinielism, cost fellowship with many of former friends and Christian companions. However, the momentary sadness was replaced with faith and joy in knowing the Holy Scriptures clear and whatever they said were true.

I look forward to further perusal of your articles. Thanks and may our sovereign Lord bless you and yours.

An unprofitable servant,
Wayne

P. S. When my journey began, I lived and pastored in Millport, AL.

Brother Wayne,

Thank you for the message! It encourages me to know people are reading and responding to the posts.

Yes, I coined the term “inmillennialism.” I discussed the rationale for doing so in an earlier blog post (here).

I can relate to your experiences. The long journey, isolation, loss of friendships, etc. are difficult. But, as you say, seeing how God has arranged all of history to fulfill his prophetic word brings great joy.

Please stay in touch. I want to know what you think of the posts as we go along. This includes any corrections or clarifications that I might need to make.

Yours in Christ,
Mike

Is it possible that all these things were fulfilled in the first century, but that they are also a pattern, type, and shadow of things that will occur at the end of the Messianic Age we are living in now? If ethnic Israel is a type, wouldn’t it make sense that the judgment on Israel and the separation of the wheat and tares, is a shadow of the judgement on the whole world at the end of this age? After all, God uses pattern and repetition in all He does.

Todd,

Thanks for the comment and your questions. We have explicit scriptural support for saying Israel’s Exodus from Egypt was a type of Jesus’s generation (e.g., 1 Cor 10:6, 11). I know of no such warrant for extending the typology to the final judgment.

Is the typology possible? Yes. Can we build a prophetic model around this possibility? I think we dare not.

I would appreciate receiving any scriptural evidence for this possible typological relationship. It would help relieve some of the problems people have with inmillennialism!

Yours in Christ,
Mike
